VIA Lab's VL817 is a modern USB 3.1 Gen 1 HUB branded chip controller with an optimized cost structure that fully complies with the USB 3.1 Gen 1 specification, including ECN and compatibility testing Updated January 2017. The VL817 offers 2-port and 4-port configurations and features an integrated voltage regulator, a new low-power design and full USB charging support. The VL817 supports a combination of SuperSpeed (5Gbps), high-speed (480Mbps), full-speed (12Mbps) and low-speed (1.5Mbps) devices, and the integrated multi-transaction converter function of a USB 2.0 hub provides simultaneous use of multiple full-speed devices. The integrated 5V DC-DC switching regulator enables the VL817 to be powered directly from the 5V USB VBus, reducing BOM cost while providing high power efficiency.
