The SG3525A PWM control circuit offers higher performance and lower external component count when implemented for controlling all types of switching power supplies. The on-chip 5.1 V reference voltage is trimmed to 1% and the error amplifier has a reference voltage that includes the input common-mode voltage range, thereby eliminating external divider resistors. A sync input to the oscillator enables multiple units to be slaved or a single unit to be synchronized to an external system clock. A wide range of dead times can be programmed via a single resistor connected between the C T and drain pins. The device also has built-in soft-start circuitry, requiring only an external timing capacitor. The shutdown control pin simultaneously soft-starts the circuit and the output stage, provides instantaneous shutdown with pulsed shutdown via a PWM latch, and soft-start recycle with longer shutdown commands. Undervoltage lockout disables the output when the soft-start capacitor changes at V CC below nominal. The output stage is a totem pole design capable of sinking and sourcing over 200mA.
