Si512

13.56MHz with ultra-low power automatic card search function

Contactless Reader Chip--Si512

The Si512 is a highly integrated NFC front-end that supports multiple active/passive mode contactless communication methods and protocols at 13.56MHz, and supports automatic carrier detect function (ACD).

The Si512 front end has 5 working modes:

Reader mode, supports ISO14443A/MIFARE and Felica

Reader mode, support ISO14443B

Card emulation mode, supports ISO14443A/MIFARE and Felica

NFCIP-1 mode

ACD mode for automatic card detection and field detection with low power consumption

Without other peripheral circuits, the internal transmitter of the Si512 can drive the reader antenna to communicate with ISO/IEC14443A/B/MIFARE cards and transponders. The receiver module provides a robust and reliable circuit to demodulate and decode ISO/IEC14443A/B/MIFARE compliant card and transponder signals. The digital block handles full ISO/IEC14443A/B framing and error detection (parity and CRC).

The Si512 card reader mode supports the full-layer ISO14443B protocol, and provides additional components such as crystal oscillators and coils, which can implement ISO14443-4 and ISO14443B anti-collision standards.

The Si512 card reader mode supports Felica communication mode. In order to process Felica signals, the receiver part implements a reliable demodulation and decoding circuit. The digital part of the chip handles Felica frames and their error detection (CRC). The Si512 supports Felica's higher-speed communication, with bidirectional data transfer rates up to 424kbits/s.

In card emulation mode, Si512 can respond to reader commands in the form of ISO14443A/MIFARE or Felica cards. The digital part of the Si512 can generate a load modulated signal that sends the response back to the reader via an external circuit.

In NFCIP-1 mode, Si512 can communicate directly with devices that support NFCIP-1. The NFCIP-1 mode provides a communication mode that conforms to the Ecma340 and ISO18092 standards, and the data transfer rate can reach up to 424kbits/s. The digital part of the chip handles NFCIP-1 frames and their error detection in their entirety.

In ACD mode, the chip is in a dormant state most of the time, and is woken up regularly by 3KRC, detects the 13.56MHz RF field and RF card with low power consumption, and automatically generates an interrupt to wake up the MCU when the field or card is detected. The detection field and card functions can be enabled independently. At a typical 500ms polling period, the current is about 2.9uA. The entire ACD process does not require MCU intervention.
