The INA138NA/3K are high-side unipolar current shunt monitors. With a wide input common-mode voltage range and low quiescent current, and in a small SOT-23 package, it is designed for a wide variety of applications.
The input common-mode and supply voltages are independent of each other, and the INA138 has a voltage range of 2.7V to 36V and is rated for a temperature range of –40°C to 125°C. . Quiescent current is only 25µA, allowing the power supply to be connected to either side of the current measurement shunt with very little error.
This component converts a differential input voltage to a current output. This current is converted back to a voltage using an external load resistor, which can be set with a gain ranging from 1 to over 100. Although this circuit is designed for shunt measurements, it is also well suited for measurement and level shifting in creative applications.
